By then, three of my motorcycles had already been stolen from the same underground garage. The last time, even a heavy Abus chain with a ground anchor didn’t help — it was cut through with a plasma cutter. So, I decided to equip the next bike with a GPS tracker. I also added a second chain with another ground anchor on the rear wheel. Still, it didn’t work — my 1290SAR was stolen in February 2024.
Unfortunately, the GPS tracker couldn’t prevent it, as I didn’t notice the theft in time. The phone shouldn’t be in the bedroom while sleeping, but it also shouldn’t be on silent in the hallway. Unfortunately, that’s what happened.
When I woke up at 6:30 a.m., I was confused by the numerous notifications from the PAJ app and saw that my motorcycle was heading toward the Polish border. When I got the police on the phone, the tracker showed just that. I was able to follow a few more stops and movements of the thieves until the tracking ended in a forest south of Küstrin. I passed that location on to the border officers, but the motorcycle was, as usual, never seen again.
So, always make sure your phone is set to loud, and assign a noticeable ringtone to the PAJ app!
